Stewed Okra & Tomatoes

What You Need

You don't need fancy ingredients to whip up this tasty Southern side dish for dinner tonight!

Saute

1. Cook the bacon, then pat off the excess grease. 2. Saute the onion and garlic in bacon fat.

Deglaze

3. Pour a little chicken stock into the pan and scrape the bottom to release the brown fond. 4. Add the okra and spices.

Simmer

5. Stir in the okra and spices. 6. Simmer for 20 minutes to allow the okra to soften.

Garnish

7. Remove from the heat and add some of the bacon. 8. Place in a serving bowl and garnish with the extra bacon.

Enjoy!

Serve this warm, comforting side dish over rice, grits, or mashed potatoes.  You'll love each flavorful bite!
