Measure the coffee beans and water, preferably using a kitchen scale for accuracy. Use a 1:12 ratio of coffee to water for the best flavor.
Preheat the French press carafe by pouring in boiling water and letting it sit while you grind the coffee.
Coarsely grind the beans in a conical burr grinder for best results. They should be the same size as panko breadcrumbs.
Dump out the preheating water from the French press and add the coarsely ground coffee. Things are looking good so far!
Heat the water to 200°F, then pour some over the coffee and let it stand for 30 seconds. Pour in the rest and let it brew for 4 min.
Once the coffee has brewed for 4 minutes, slowly push down the plunger to filter the grounds from the coffee.
Immediately pour the coffee out of the French press. Remove the muddiness by straining it through a paper towel lined sieve.
Pour the coffee into your favorite mug and add sugar, milk, or cream to your tastes. Enjoy your amazing French press coffee!
