What You Need

You don't need a lot of ingredients to make this impressive white loaf!

Dry Ingredients

1. Sift the flour into a bowl, then add the salt and yeast. 2. Mix in the sugar and butter until well combined.

Knead

3. Mix in the water to make a slightly sticky dough. 4. Knead until you can stretch it thin enough to read through.

First Prove

5. Shape the dough into a ball, put in a bowl, and cover. 6. Let it rise until it's doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Second Prove

7. Punch down the dough and shape into a round loaf. 8. Let it rise until springy, about 30 minutes, then slash.

Bake

9. Bake at 450°F for 40 minutes, covering with foil if needed. 10. Let the bread cool completely, then slice and enjoy.
