Candied Orange Slices

BY SAVOR THE FLAVOUR

Choose any type of orange that you'd like, then grab some water and granulated sugar.  Let's get started!

Grab these ingredients!

Slice & blanch.

1. Scrub the oranges, then slice them in 1/8-inch slices. 2. Blanch in boiling water for 10 minutes to remove any bitterness.

Simple syrup.

3. Immediately drain the oranges and place them in an ice bath to stop their cooking. 4. Make a simple syrup by dissolving the sugar into the water.

Simmer.

5. Bring the syrup to a boil, then add the oranges and simmer for 45-60 minutes (until translucent). 6. Spread the slices on wire racks and dry in a 175°F oven for 30 min.

Almost done!

7. Roll each slice in sugar, then dry them out for another 1 1/2-2 hrs. 8. Coat in sugar, then enjoy or use as a decoration on baked goods.

These beautiful treats can be used to garnish drinks or embellish baked goods.
