Candied Grapefruit Peels

What You Need

You'll need only three simple ingredients to make these candied grapefruit peels!

Prep the Fruit

1. Wash, dry, and halve the grapefruit. 2. Squeeze the juice from each half with a citrus reamer.

Scrape & Slice

3. Use a grapefruit spoon to scrape out the membranes. 4. Slice the peel into 1 cm strips.

Blanch

5. Simmer in water for 5 min. 6. Drain and shock in ice water, then repeat step 5 -6 four more times.

Candying

7. Dissolve the sugar in the water to make a simple syrup. 8. Add the peels and simmer for 45 min, or until translucent.

Dry

9. Spread the peels on a wire rack set over a cookie sheet. 10. Let them dry in a 180°F oven for 1 1/2 hours.

Almost Done!

11. Roll the peel in granulated sugar while it's still tacky. 12. Let it cool completely, and enjoy!
