You won't need fancy ingredients to make this mouthwatering Panera copycat recipe.  Let's get cooking!

Get Set...Saute!

Saute the onion, carrot, and celery for 5 minutes, then add the garlic and cook for another minute.

Spice Things Up

Add the dried spices to the sauteed veggies and stir constantly for 30 seconds to bloom them.

Add the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.  Pour in 1 cup of broth and scrape off the browned food on the bottom.

More Yumminess

Add the rinsed black beans and the remaining vegetable broth and stir.  Simmer for 30 minutes.

Pour half of the soup into a powerful blender and blend until pureed.  This will thicken the soup and give it a creamier texture.

All Done!

Stir in the pureed soup, then remove it from the heat and add the lemon juice for extra flavor.

Enjoy this delicious homemade soup!

Ladle bowlfuls of this black bean soup and garnish with cilantro, jalapeño, and other Tex Mex toppings.
